School day
The school day starts at 8:45am and finishes at 3:15pm. The children will need to be at the gate a few minutes beforehand. Children will use the gate at the front of school on Dover Street. A member of staff will open this at 8:40am. We will leave school onto the main yard at the rear of school at 3.15pm.
Homework
Homework is given out on a Friday and must be returned on the following Friday. Homework always consists of maths using IXL , spelling and reading including Bug Club. It is vital that your child reads every night. They must also spend at least 5 minutes per day practising their times tables. This can be done on TTRS, hit the button or using the following website; https://www.timestables.co.uk/multiplication-tables-check/
PE and Swimming
This year, children will attend swimming lessons for half the year and do PE lessons at school as normal for the other half. 4T will attend swimming from September to February half term and 4F will do PE at school first and have their swimming sessions from February half term to summer.
Children should come to school wearing their PE kits on their allocated PE days. For Year 4 this is a Tuesday. Children may wear joggers rather than shorts in the cold weather but these must be black and appropriate for movement. Children should also wear their trainers on PE days which should be plain black.
Times tables
As you are aware, there is a multiplication check in the summer term of year 4 where our children will be tested on their times table knowledge. This will comprise of 25 quick fire questions which test the times tables from 1 to 12. In order to prepare for this test, it is paramount that the children know all of their times tables and can recall them quickly. They can practise this using TTRS and online games.
