Maths hugely important to all of us at Bradley, we see it as a vital part of the curriculum.
We want our children to understand that mathematics is a tool for everyday life and a way of viewing and making sense of the world. It is used to analyse and communicate information and ideas and to tackle a range of practical tasks and real life problems.
We aim for all children at Bradley to have a positive attitude towards mathematics, which will support them in using and applying their skills across the curriculum and in real life. We want all pupils to have the ability to work both independently and in cooperation with others whilst developing their understanding of mathematics through a process of enquiry and experiment.
Each child takes part in a daily maths lesson where new skills are taught and developed. These skills are then applied across other curriculum areas. Small group interventions are used to support children who require extra help or time to fully understand concepts and also for those children who are working above average and need an extra challenge.
The children at Bradley also enjoy and are encouraged to ‘talk about maths'. We ensure that part of each lesson ensures the children develop their maths skills through discussing and developing different Maths strategies.
